Hi, my name is Eric Ward and you have stumbled upon
my web page dedicated to
explaining my Eagle Scout project.
Basically, the project consists of two parts.
The first part will be marking all the various storm
drain inlets that are around the
Town of Lovettsville, VA. Second will be a public awareness campaign in which
I
will be distributing flyers and booklets on ways that the average homeowner can
help
keep our area’s creeks and rivers clean.
The first phase of my project will be to mark all the
storm drain inlets in Lovettsville
with markers that say "No Dumping, Drains to Creek "on them. These are scattered
about, mostly in the suburb residential sections, with seventy drains total. The markers
are made of a tough, durable plastic. They will be attached to the inlets using Sikaflex,
a multipurpose adhesive created for applications like
this one. The scouts will work in
teams of two to four individuals, all wearing safety
vests.

The second phase of my project will involve handing
out flyers explaining my project
and
informational booklets provided by the Loudoun Soil and Water Conservation
District
(http://loudoun.vaswcd.org/).
A total of 240 booklets with informational leaflets
will be distributed door-to-door throughout
Lovettsville. They wrote a "Letter
of Support."
